Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed they will expose the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer game mode on August 1.

Infinity Ward has just unveiled the first of several multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's called Gunfight, and it's a 2v2, last-man-standing mode where everyone has the same random loadouts each round. 

 

Following the recent revelation of the 2v2 shooting mode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is about to reveal the most critical content of the multiplayer online mode.

 

 Here’s what we know so far:

 

Rounds last 40 seconds each. Last team standing wins. There are no respawns. If at least one player on each team is still standing after 40 seconds (in other words -- if campers try to just wait it out), a flag spawns in the middle of the map. If you can get to it and then defend it for three seconds, you’ll get a point and win the round. If nobody can defend the flag, whichever team has the most collective health wins (it should be noted that health does not regenerate in Gunfight; you’ve got a set amount of health each round, old-school style). First team to six points wins.

It's worth mentioning that gunfight mode doesn't allow players to choose their own weapons, so at the beginning of each round, both players will be equipped with a random set of the same weapons by the system for a fair fight. In other words, if you start with a pistol and a smoke grenade, the opposite side is the same.All maps are very small because they are built for the 2v2 experience. They are so small that when the game starts, you can usually see at least one opponent. We know of at least three maps custom-made for this mode: "King," a warehouse interior space; "Pine," a dense forest; and "Stack," a desert container yard.

 

 

The new project focuses on unifying progress across modes, eliminating traditional season tickets to provide richer and more diverse content, including more post-release free maps, content and community activities.
