Elsweyr – The Elder Scrolls Online New DLC

The Elder Scrolls Online Elsweyr is a new DLC for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) adventure game Elder Scrolls Online. In this DLC, players will experience a war with the dragon and a new story.

Bethesda Softworks unveiled its 2019 plans for The Elder Scrolls Online, including a new story chapter called Elsweyr, part of a four-part story arc that will include dragons, a first for the fantasy online multiplayer game. Many of the update’s details were already known, due to a leak earlier this month.

The new DLC continues where recent smaller DLC chapters left off. Players got their first taste of dragon-slaying in the Wrathstone DLC, and now they’re following the big grumpy lizards to Elsweyr. It’s a big new zone with plenty to explore, a central story arc involving kicking out the dragons, and of course the usual swarm of optional side-content. As The Elder Scrolls Online is fully level-scaled now, there’s nothing stopping players from jumping in as soon as they feel ready. This expansion also makes Necromancers a playable class, for the edgelords among us.

Apart from dragons, the other main attraction to Elsweyr is a new class of player, a Necromancer, the game’s first new class since 2017’s Morrowind chapter. As the name suggests, this character has useful skills when it comes to interacting with the dead. Necromancers specialize in illusion, destructive magic and mastery of human souls.

ESO creative director Rich Lambert told GameSpot that the team is "really going into the heartland, showing what Khajit culture is, and how they've evolved over the ages. We spent a lot of time reflecting on what the fans wanted, in trying to bring that Elder Scrolls feel into the game."

With Elsweyr, ZeniMax is betting it can get players to come back more than once by spreading the main story across four patches over the course of a year. You’ll have the main story of the Elsweyr chapter, of course, which reportedly yields around 30 hours of content at launch. Beyond that, you’ll get two new dungeon patches later in the year and finish with another big story patch sometime in the year’s fourth quarter.
