The official opening dates for the second Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge attraction, Rise of the Resistance, have been announced. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the next attraction to be added to Galaxy's Edge, is opening on December 5, 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, and January, 17 2020 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Disney noted that December 5 also happens to be the birthday of Walt Disney himself. At 14 acres each, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, now open, and at Disney's Hollywood Studios, opening Aug. 29, 2019, is Disney's largest single-themed land expansion ever.

 

Announced by Disney, Rise of the Resistance will "blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance." Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Leia Organa at a secret base, but will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer en-route. With the help of Resistance members, guests must escape the Star Destroyer, protect a secret base and "stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren."
